Sarah qualified as a barrister in 1988 and is an accredited mediator and a coach with over 20 years of experience of working within the public sector. Sarah was a senior manager for 17 years and was responsible for implementing substantial organisational change within the Crown Prosecution Service. As part of the senior management team, Sarah was responsible for managing a unit of prosecutors and support staff as well as the associated court work and casework.
Sarah seized an opportunity to train as an in-house mediator in 2007 and has since mediated with staff at all levels from senior managers to administrative grades.
Sarah’s passion for mediation and her experience and confirmation of it as an effective means of resolving conflict led her to set up Mediation in the Workplace Ltd, a company which specialises in all aspects of conflict resolution including mediation; workplace investigations; training and coaching.
Sarah delivers the National Mediation qualifications and her company is a recognized centre for its delivery.
Sarah was the winner in the ‘Independent Mediator of the Year’ category of the National Mediation Awards 2014 and has contributed a chapter examining the use of mediation in The Handbook of Dealing with Workplace Bullying (2015). Sarah has recently been awarded ‘Mediation Champion of the Year’ in the National Mediation Awards 2015.
Sarah is involved in teaching children about conflict resolution and over the last few years has set up a number of peer mediation schemes in her local primary schools. Sarah also volunteers as a mentor for troubled teenagers in her local secondary schools.
